African Art proposes an emotional and intellectual rapprochement between man, animal, and nature rarely seen in works from other regions. While anthropocentrism has predominated modern production in the West, Africa stands out for its exploration of visions such as biocentrism, sentientism, or multinaturalism.

Authors like Mapfara caution against the superficial priorisation of beings, emphasising the causality between organisms and ecosystems - a relationship that sustains all life on the planet.

In his paintings, Kheto Lualuali avoids outlining his human and animal characters, implying their indivisibility from the natural environment. When a landscape takes centre stage in his works, it is clearly treated as a sentient element, granted the same status as any other organism.

With the "MANIMALIA" event, Manoeuvre aims to inspire a dialogue about human self-perception in Western tradition, proposing a re-anchoring of its centre of gravity: let's delve into African artistic production and confront our own detachment from other natural phenomena.

As a starting point, we propose analysing the works and concepts of Mapfara and Kheto Lualuali, as well as those of artists Samuel Muankongue, Lulu Maparangue, Nino Trindade, Reinata Sadimba, and Simbraz.

Perhaps more urgently than ever, there is a need to design a new, universally inclusive harmony. May this be a small step towards its realisation.
