Today, 9 June, at 5pm, is the opening of "Os Pêndulos das Figuras" (Figurative Pendulums): a painting exhibition by Lulu Maparangue at the MANOEUVRE Gallery in Matosinhos.

A painter who emerges in a dreamlike spectrum, with deep symbolism and colours that are both vibrant and warm, Lulu Maparangue has shaped his artistic path with distinctive flair: he stands out whether through assemblage, a process he approaches in a very personal way, or through the intense and diverse richness of the figures he portrays, imagines, invents, and creates. On this occasion, his essentially pendular gesture stands out, visually calibrating both the arrangement of the figures and the relationship they establish with each other in terms of composition and, inevitably, their symbolic universe.

In addition to his solid artistic career, Lulu Maparangue plays a prominent role in the Mozambican cultural fabric, notably through his involvement in the Maputo Art Centre, which he regards as the central hub for the arts in this country. Therefore, he serves not only as a facilitator of artistic activities but also as a promoter of the work and achievements of various artists whom he admires and publicly acknowledges. Now, with "Os Pêndulos das Figuras" (Figurative Pendulums), an exhibition featuring nearly thirty works, all created recently, some in Matosinhos during the artistic residency organised by MANOEUVRE earlier this year, Lulu Maparangue presents himself as an artist fully immersed in the world of painting.
